Today marks day two of the four day African Energy Forum in Mauritius.
Chattels are extremely proud to be the marquee infrastructure supplier responsible for building the AEF Village in the South West of the island comprising of:
The Main Exhibition Area Marquee (3,000sqm)
Four Conference Room Marquees (1,300sqm)
Four Speaker Rooms
As well as the usual Back of House facilities
All marquee infrastructure was built on top of our level decking system. A total of 4,500sqm of decking was used.
The logistics and time management around getting all our stock to Mauritius was extremely important. We worked around the clock to ensure that all the marquee infrastructure and decking stock necessary was prepped, checked, packed and ready for shipping. Even missing one piece of gable could spell disaster.
In all, 19 containers left our shores in April for their month long journey to Mauritius. We all got slight heart palpitations here at the Cape Town HQ, when one of the containers went rogue… arriving a week later (shew!) and luckily didn’t cause any delays in the build.
Our on-site team consisted of 2 Snr Site Managers and 8 of our most experienced crew. The rest of the crew consisted of 16 local workers.
The annual forum moved this year to Mauritius for their 20th Anniversary, from its usual location in Europe. (This year also marks 50 years of independence for Mauritius – nice going!
